Eagles want a top pick for McNabb

leave a comment »

The Philadelphia Eagles have been reported to be willing to consider a trade for their veteran QB, Donovan McNabb. However, they would want a top-42 pick in this year’s NFL Draft. McNabb has previously stated that he would prefer being traded to the Vikings but they probably will not pick him up as they are still awaiting a response from Brett Favre as to whether he will return next season for the 2nd and last year of his contract.

There are three teams with 2 picks in the top-42 — the Oakland Raiders, Buffalo Bills and the St. Louis Rams. Of these three, I give the Raiders the highest likelihood to pick up McNabb because that franchise just doesn’t know what the hell they’re doing.

McNabb is still a top-tier QB, barring injury. He had a stellar season until the two consecutive losses to the Cowboys, but at this point of his career, everything is about diminishing marginal returns. A lot of teams need QBs, but few teams are looking for old, injury-prone QBs.
