Price Anchoring, the iPad, and why we’re all fools

Mint.com has an interesting article on price anchoring and how it applies to the iPad. In short, price anchoring is showing an inflated price and then announcing a lower price. In the iPad’s instance, Steve Jobs stated that the iPad was rumored to be $1000, but when he announces the price of $499, you think you’re getting a deal.

Apparently, we’re all susceptible to it and the smarter you are about pricing, the easier you fall prey to it.
