Comedy Central developing a cartoon starring Jesus Christ

leave a comment »

In the midst of all the hubbub over using the image of Muhammed in South Park, it seems as if Comedy Central wants to bank on their controversial publicity.┬áThe network is now developing a cartoon that would star Jesus Christ as the main character, focusing mainly on a son trying to live up to his father’s expectations.

There is nothing set in stone yet and South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker are not part of the development process so there is no word if the South Park version of Jesus would be the character in question.

But one thing is sure, there is going to be a LOT of fighting over this show if it gets produced.

North Korea sentences U.S. citizen to 8 years for crossing border

leave a comment »

Aijalon Mahli Gomes has been sentenced to 8 years in prison and a fine of 70 million won ($700,000US) for crossing the North Korean border from China. It is unclear as to why he crossed the border, but come on, he’s listed as a devout Christian. Why else would he have gone?

Gomes is from Boston but was teaching English in South Korea at the time when he decided to hop up to China and go into the communist state to do some good will.

It’s unlikely that Gomes will serve the 8 years of his sentence. He will most likely be released early as an act of good will toward the United States as 3 other U.S. citizen have in the past year.

Tebow told to ‘shut the f— up’

NBC Sports reports that before taking the Wonderlic test, Tim Tebow had asked his fellow combine-mates to join him in prayer before taking the written exam. One of the other prospective NFL players quickly replied, ‘Shut the f–k up’ and was greeted with laughter.

While I wouldn’t ask a room of strangers to pray with me before taking an exam, I think Tebow shouldn’t be ridiculed for his faith. I don’t know his faith well enough, but I am certainly eager to see a big-name player in the post-game prayer conducted at the 50-yd line every game.
