Korea to ban underage gaming at night

leave a comment »

Policies have been introduced in Korea that will prohibit online gaming for underage players at night. Underage gamers will be able to choose a 6-hour period between midnight and 8am in which they will not be able to log into servers for games that are dependent on virtual worlds.

Pretty crazy. I think its even crazier that this has to be executed on a government level. Why can’t parents be trusted to fix this issue? I understand that Korea is on a whole other level when it comes to cyber addictions, but at some point, people need to take responsibility for themselves.

Google aint talking about Youtube outage this morning

leave a comment »

Youtube was down for an hour this morning from 7AM to 8AM ET. It wouldn’t be such a big deal if it wasn’t for Google’s decision to remove any censorship for users in China, which goes against the nation’s policy.

The video site is back up now, but don’t be surprised if you hear more about this in the coming days.

Time Warner Roadrunner customers get free Optimum WiFi access

leave a comment »

Time Warner’ Roadrunner Cable customers will now have access to Optimum wifi hotspots all over NYC. This affects mostly those outside of Manhattan since there aren’t too many Optimum WiFi spots in the city, but if you’re a commuter, this would help a lot. They just added service to these new locations:

•  Long Island Railroad Port Washington line: Woodside, Flushing Main Street, Murray Hill, Broadway, Auburndale, Bayside, Douglaston, Little Neck;
• Manhattan: Bryant Park, Madison Square Park and 79th Street Boat Basin;
• Parks in Queens: Bowne Park and Kissena Park in Flushing, Baisley Pond Park and Railroad Park in Jamaica.

Facebook to remove “Stalker Apps”

leave a comment »

Apparently all those apps that promise to see who’s viewing your profile don’t actually work.

Facebook said: “Don’t believe any applications that claim they can show you who’s viewing your profile or photo. They can’t.”

Remember the good old days when we used Xanga and had Xanga tracker?

Microsoft Pivot, a new way to search the web

with one comment

Pivot is a new project by those guys at Microsoft that’s going to change the way we look at the web. Rather than googling everything and seeing everything as individual pages, Pivot enables us to finally browse the internet as a web of data.

Still in its early stages, its available for download for free. Sorry guys, only compatible with Vista and Windows 7 users. Yeah, sucks, but I might install Boot Camp just for this. But it’s nice to see that Microsoft isn’t resting on its laurels and its trying to be innovative.

Download link below.
