One homeless man left in Times Square

leave a comment »

The last remaining homeless man living in Times Square refuses to move to shelter. According to non-profit groups, there were 55 homeless people living in the area in 2005. In the summer of 2009, that number was reduced to 7. The average length of homelessness for the 7 men was 17 years.

Since then, social workers have worked to relocate the homeless men to permanent housing provided by the city. They’ve succeeded with all but one. His name is Heavy.

The New York Times tells his story. Definitely worth a read.

NYTimes invades to spite writer

leave a comment »

It’s all speculation right now, but it seems like the New York Times, the newspaper of public record, has purchased a disgusting amount of advertising space on just to spite writer Jake Dobkin, who spoke ill about the newspaper on his facebook page last month. There’s no proof that his little quabble was the reason for the post, but none is needed. This is just too funny.

Let’s see if that works for the Vicious Blog. We could use some ad $$.
